Visual Studio creating multiple/ additional workspaces

I started using TFS since VS2010. By that time I already created my own TFS server (myname.visualstudio.com). My problem is that I created a new project on the my TFS website (the one with the dashboards). Then when I go to VS2017, and connect to that new project, it asks me to map and get it as expected. Instead of just clicking "Map & Get" button, I instead clicked advanced so that I can configure everything. On the workspace configuration dialog, I noticed that VS names it as "MYPCBLABLA_1" . If I try to remove the "_1", VS says that " the workspace blablabla already exists on computer

Symbolic links in TFS 2010 Source Control?

As far as I know, Team Foundation Server 2010's source control (and prior versions) doesn't support linking (Symbolic links) of files. Linking (per Visual SourceSafe) was the concept of providing one "hard" file in a folder, and then "linking" to it in other locations - exactly like file system hard links are designed. Does anyone know if files can be linked at all? I realise it is not a good practice in general, but I have some scenarios where it makes sense. According to an answer in this thread: Linking TFS source control folder from another TFS project it's not possible, but I can't find a

问题 I rolled back a changeset. Now I need to check out the changeset that was rolled back with 'actualized' pending changes. So like everything is before the commit of the changes. When I get specific version with files override I see nothing in pending changes window. How can I get the state I need? 问题 I have a local git repository and i would like to convert it to TFVC version control and then load it to TFS server. Does anyone have an idea how to do it ? 回答1: To migrate Git repo to TFVC repo, you need to install git-tf tool at first. And also make sure you have added a TFVC repo before migration. And assume the TFVC repo name is projectname . After installing git-tf successful, then use below commands to checkin the files and histories in TFS TFVC repo: cd /payh/to/local/git/repo git tf

TFS creates a $tf folder with gigabytes of .gz files. Can I safely delete it?

I am using visual studio 2012 with Microsoft TFS 2012. On the workspace that is created on my c: drive, a hidden folder $tf is created. I suspect TFS from creating this folder. It's lurking diskspace as the current size is several gigabytes now and it's about 25% diskspace of the total amount of gigabytes needed for the complete workspace. So this hidden $tf folder is quite huge. The structure is like this: c:\workspace\$tf\0\{many files with guid in filename}.gz c:\workspace\$tf\1\{many files with guid in filename}.gz Does anyone know if I can delete this $tf folder safely or if it is
