问题 Getting this message, which is not true The following module was build either with optimization enabled or without debug information. And it gives me a path to temp asp.net file as C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\47cdc49a\658f757e\assembly\dl3\0fbfef54\55a1ff8a_28eacb01\MyModule.dll I open folder and there are three files as expected dll, pdb, and ini. What gives? 回答1: Under Debug>Modules this dll was added to excluded list of dll's that should not

Creating debug symbols for gdb manually

问题 Intro . For my compilers course I have to translate some language to assembler. Now my code has a segfault, and I have hard time debugging it. Having an ability to watch variables would simplify the process a lot, but the final asm code has only registers and their derivatives. Question . How can I create debug symbols for gdb manually? I believe I can propagate all necessary information. Will the separate file be created or will it be part of asm? In the former case how to make gdb aware of

Debugging MFC: “mfc100.dll” cannot find or open pdb

问题 I'm trying to step into MFC source code while debugging. However, Visual Studio apparently has problems with loading the appropriate symbols: C:\WINDOWS\symbols\dll\mfc100.i386.pdb: PDB does not match image. I checked other questions on SO, often it is recommended to enable "symbol servers". This is not helping though, because it only seems to download a minimal PDB file (~2 MB) instead of a PDB file that actually enables you to step into the source (~20 MB). According to Cannot load symbols

WinDbg: APPLICATION_HANG_WRONG_SYMBOLS

问题 I'm pretty new to WinDbg and I'm trying to find a bug which has my application hanging for no appearent reason. I'm not sure I'm doing things right, but I understand that I need both symbols for the system dlls aswell as the .exe I'm debugging. Thus, I set up my symbol path like this: srv*c:\websymbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols;S:\MY\PATH The second path pointing to a folder where I placed the .pdb that was generated by VS. I'm positive that's the correct .pdb file, but it

xcodebuild build action to distribute a dynamic framework with stripped dSYM

问题 I used to build our dynamic frameworks for internal development using xcodebuild -workspace <workspace_path> build -configuration "Release" now that we are shipping frameworks to 3rd party developers we want to remove symbols from framework binary. I noticed that using build option the binary always contains the symbols, even if the project is configured with: DEBUG_INFORMATION_FORMAT = dwarf-with-dsym STRIP_INSTALLED_PRODUCT = YES STRIP_STYLE = non-global It seems that using archive

I want to debug (set a breakpoint in) System.Web.Mvc.DefaultControllerFactory, is that possible?

问题 I have a project that references the System.Web.Mvc assembly in the GAC. I also have the ASP.NET MVC source code from Codeplex. I want to get a better understanding of the DefaultControllerFactory by stepping through its methods. How could I set this up? Thanks! 回答1: Compile the MVC code. Uninstall the MVC (To make sure you don't debug the retail bits) Use the assembly that you compiled, instead of the retail. 回答2: If you do download the MVC source files from Codeplex, I've written a step by

How to prevent GDB from loading debugging symbol for a (large) library?

问题 While debugging a Qt 5 application, I am sometimes not interested in the internals of Qt 5 but in the structure of the application itself. Therefore I do not need to load all debugging symbols of the Qt 5 libraries since these take a few seconds to load. Is it possible to prevent GDB from loading symbols for these Qt 5 libraries while keeping the debugging symbols for my application? 回答1: Is it possible to prevent GDB from loading symbols for these Qt 5 libraries while keeping the debugging

How to deal with 3rd party c++ libraries LNK4099 Warning in VisualStudio

问题 I have a Visual Studio c++ project where I use the linker Settings /WX (TreatWarningsAsLinkerErrors=true) In Debug, I compile with /Zi (Debug Database), which works fine. Now I have a 3rd party SDK which comes with a static library, but no .pdb file. As soon as I link this file in Debug, I get LNK4099: 3rd-party.lib(3rd-party.obj) : warning LNK4099: PDB "vc90.pdb" was not found "3rd-party.lib(3rd-party.obj)" or with "C:\OutDir\vc90.pdb" Please note that this message is misleading, as placing

ReSharper PdbNavigator No debugging information found on symbol servers

问题 We have TeamCity setup to create a NuGet package and a symbol source package for an internal component. The symbol source packages correctly contains the dll's, pdb's and source code. Once TeamCity has created the packages, they are published to our NuGet / SymbolSource server. In ReSharper I have configured 'External Sources' to be 'Navigation to Sources'. The NuGet package has been added to a project, but when navigating to sources, the ReSharper output shows this error: PdbNavigator:
