How can I store the new CHANGESET number in my source code after I check in?

问题 In SVN you can use some keyword expansion to put your revision number inside source files. I find this particularly useful on SQL scripts. Using TFS2010, how can I put the changeset number inside a source file ? 回答1: If you really must insert the current changeset number in a file, you can use the Keyword Substitution Check-in Policy. 来源: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10247305/how-can-i-store-the-new-changeset-number-in-my-source-code-after-i-check-in

How to build 2 solutions from a single TFS team build definition

I have a pretty large complicated application that has a smart client front end in one solution and a web services layer in another solution. We use 2 team build definitions in TFS 2010 to build the solutions. We are still using MS Build scripts not the new workflow based templates. How can we use a single build definition to build both solutions. We are open to either tricks inside MS Build scripts or moving to the new workflow templates. You can simply set two Solutions to build by creating them in an item group if I am understanding what you are trying to do <SolutionToBuild Include="$

TFS 2010 Build Publish via file system

I've got a fairly large MVC2 project in TFS which gets built automatically on checkin (Continuous Integration) At present, the fully built version is dumped on a network share on our dev IIS server. \\Server\wwwrootLatest TFS of course creates lots of sub-folders since it's just doing a build, it isn't even aware that it's drop directory is a wwwroot. This means that to actually USE the build, we need to go and manually create an IIS App which points at the appropriate directory - which defeats the whole object of the exercise. When we do a manual publish to that server, we use "File System"

Third-party DLLs with TFS build server

问题 I'm just setting up an automated build for the first time in my Team Foundation Server (TFS)/Visual Studio 2010 enviroment. It's a WPF 4 application that uses the Entprise library and has also some components that have been built in Expression Blend. The application builds OK inside Visual Studio. However, it fails to build using the build server. For example: The imported project "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\Expression\Blend.NETFramework\v4.0\Microsoft.Expression.Blend.WPF

Migrate TFS2010 to TFS2013 on new hardware keeping existing TFS2010 installation in place

We need to move our current TFS2010 installation to a new TFS2013 box but would like to have a testing period in which both instances are live before eventually sunsetting the TFS2010 instance. The TFS2013 instance would be used for testing only for the first few weeks. Just prior to sunsetting we would again migrate the TFS 2010 data again to the TFS2013 instance to get the most recent changes. The TFS2010 cannot be upgraded in place to TFS 2013 as its on 32 bit OS and my preference would be to remain conservative and keep the current production TFS2010 instance untouched during the testing

Excluded branches showing on TFS branch diagram

问题 I am using TFS2010, through VS2013, and when I go to my master branch, Branching and Merging > View Hierarchy . It shows up some deleted branches. They were excluded by myself long ago, but I can't remove them from diagram. Here are the hierarchy view: I already tried to remove all the checkouts from all the collaborators through TFS Sidekicks, but without any luck. I tried to Google it, and also tried other questions here, including this one, which I have replied but does not apply to the

TFS Rolling Build appears to skip building on the weekend

On TFS 2010 we set up a build script to automatically run and deploy to our test environment no more than every 4 hours. So the trigger of the build definition is "Rolling builds - accumulate check-ins until the prior build finishes" with the check box checked for "Build no more often than every [240] minutes". The way I'm interpreting this is that if a build happens at 16:25, and there's 3 check-ins in the next 30 minutes (the last happening at 16:52), then the next build will happen at 20:25. The issue we're seeing is that if this sequence of events happens on a Friday, then the next

Where is the build log located in Team Foundation Server 2010?

I am looking for the physical location of the TFS workflow log. Not the MSBuild Log but the log you see when you click "View Log". I have read in other forums that the log is stored in an SQL database. But which database is it and specifically what table? Thanks. Hope someone knows the answer to this. paulselles The entire build log can be found in the Tfs_YourTeamProjectCollection database in the Tbl_BuildInformation . The Tbl_BuildInformation table contains self referencing entries to preserve the build log hierarchy, and all the build information is saved in XML. The information is saved as

Are TFS 2010 (a.k.a. Microsoft ALM 2010) web services exposed\\documented

I'm trying to find up to date info on commuicating with TFS 2010 (now also refered to Microsoft ALM 2010, I believe). This previous post 192579 from a Microsoft TFS team member states : The web services are not documented by Microsoft as it is not an officially supported route to talk to TFS. The officially supported route is to use their .NET API. But this was anwser was back from 2008, so I was wondering if this is still the case with 2010. There is a post 2010 post that talks about using powershell and the tfs web services . To give some context, I basically need to sync some workitems

TFS2010: Set up an alert that will email a member in the team when a work item is assigned to them

问题 I want to notify each team member when a work item is assigned to them. I know how to set up an alert per team member (so if there are 10 team members I set up 10 seperate alerts) but is there a way to set up a single alert that will email the person the work item is assigned to? I have the filter complete: "PortfolioProject" = 'MyProject' AND ("CoreFields/StringFields/Field[ReferenceName='System.AssignedTo']/OldValue" <> '@Me' AND "CoreFields/StringFields/Field[ReferenceName='System
