Does anyone have any thoughts on Rational Software Architect vs Sparx EA? Are there other tools I should be looking at? Specifically, I'm interested in the following; Adherance to some methodology (RUP, SOMF, etc.) -- we're not settled on one now, but need to pick one that suits a SoA architecture. Multi-modeling -- I need to model all the way from hardware (ideally with cost/spec tracking across physical and cloud) to deployment, classes/services, etc. Roundtrip -- reverse our code/data and then generate stubs as we add new classes to the model. NoSQL support Focus on code -- we're less data

Microsoft, of Cairo fame, is working on Oslo, a new modeling platform . Bob Muglia, Senior Vice President of Microsoft Server & Tools Business, states that the benefits of modeling have always been clear. In simple, practical terms, what are the clear benefits that Oslo bestows upon its users? In theory, there are a few benefits: The people with the business knowledge can create the software models so you're less likely to lose anything in translation. When non-technical shareholders create models, it forces them to "think like a developer". They see that what they considered obvious and easy

问题 I know of Rational Rose and we have got Rational Rose 6. But I am looking for some other tools which are more usable, which do not complain that they are not running in Windows 98/2000 (when installed and run in WinXP) and has got better features as compared to Rational Rose 6. 回答1: This lists Visual Basic (as distinct from VB.Net) as supported. 回答2: Check out Enterprise Architect. It's not expensive and does a lot of things well. 回答3: Enterprise Architect does reverse engineering and code

Need a idea for developing very simple application demonstrating concepts of MDA. Alright, it is hard to find something analogous to a hello world in MDA world as MDA is geared on solving a bigger problem. The best way in my opinion to get started is to approach the below problem by "thinking in meta- model " In any real world application, there are certain artifacts that you require for any business entity to be persisted. Pick 2 such simple entities like Customer and Orders and generate all the corresponding artifacts across all the layers of any multi-tiered application (like ui,

Is there a MDSD/MDA success story for a real world application? [closed]

I am currently facing a situation where I as an advocate of test driven development have to compete with an advocate of model driven software development (MDSD) / model driven architecture (MDA). In my opinion, code generation is a valuable tool in my toolbox and I make heavy
