I created an index mapping, like this one, and now I will use filebeat to send a json file to Elasticsearch, how can I make sure to configure my filebeat.yml to send the information to this new index mapping that I'm just creating?

Index mapping:

PUT _template/packets
{
  "index_patterns": "packets-*",
  "mappings": {
    "pcap_file": {
      "dynamic": "false",
      "properties": {
        "timestamp": {
          "type": "date"
        },
        "layers": {
          "properties": {
            "frame": {
              "properties": {
                "frame_frame_len": {
                  "type": "long"
                },
                "frame_frame_protocols": {
                  "type": "keyword"
                }
              }
            },
            "ip": {
              "properties": {
                "ip_ip_src": {
                  "type": "ip"
                },
                "ip_ip_dst": {
                  "type": "ip"
                }
              }
            },
            "udp": {
              "properties": {
                "udp_udp_srcport": {
                  "type": "integer"

      }
    }
  }
}

  # Note: After is the equivalent to previous and before is the equivalent to to next in Logstash

#============================== Xpack Monitoring ===============================
# filebeat can export internal metrics to a central Elasticsearch monitoring

#xpack.monitoring.enabled: false

# Uncomment to send the metrics to Elasticsearch. Most settings from the
# Elasticsearch output are accepted here as well. Any setting that is not set is
# automatically inherited from the Elasticsearch output configuration, so if you
# have the Elasticsearch output configured, you can simply uncomment the
# following line.

I want to make sure that what I will upload with filebeat, will be correctly submitted to the Elasticsearch mapping I set before, thank you very much my friends

If you can write directly from FileBeat to ES then its a feature I'm not aware of.

I use Logstash as follows:

~/logs/*.log -> Filebeat --> LogStash --> ElasticSearch

Install FileBeat on all of your service nodes and Logstash on monitoring node(s) and let LogStash talk to ES. Its cleaner separation (Filebeat just sends raw data to a host/port) and LogStash has lots of parsing functionality (and you write transformations for the data if you like) which you'll need to populate sensible indexes in ES.

And you are using Index Template right??? (otherwise you're going to waste a lot of space in your ES cluster)

回答2:

Make sure the template name in your filebeat.yml matches the name of the template you created in ES. The file you posted shows:

setup.template.name: "packets-*"

Notice, the value is ending with -*. But your template's name is packets, without the -*. Change that line to:

setup.template.name: "packets"
