PyQtGraph MeshItem drops out or flashes white at ~21 frames/s

I am using PyQtGraph MeshItem to display a 3d Spectrogram of an Audio File while it is playing. The Mesh is 1024 (samples) wide and between 50 and 100 long. It sometimes flashes
