Is there a way to adjust the Spinner width if the spinner is in the optionsMenu ! (without over riding getView() )

Hi I am building an app and I have a spinner in my optionsMenu and I cannot change its width no matter what i do . I tried my own spinner_item.xml and my own spinner_dropdown.x
