Azure Queue Storage Trigger Function throws System.Text.DecoderFallbackException on byte array

Question

I\'m sending a byte array to an Azure Storage Queue - it\'s compressed JSON encoded as base64 because of queue size limitations. gzipped then encoded base64 it\'s well under the
