Why the run time is different for “Knitting the pdf” and “running all the chunks to produce pdf through rmarkdown render function”?

Question

Actually in my case running chunks to produce pdf through render function takes 20 mins and knitting the pdf takes 10 mins. What is the reason behind this ?
