You may want to look into os dependent line separators, e.g.:

with open('./output.txt', 'a') as f1:
    f1.write(content + os.linesep)

Well, the problem you have is wrong line ending/encoding for notepad. Notepad uses Windows' line endings - \r\n and you use \n.
