Here is an extension you can add to your project:

extension CALayer {

    func addBorder(edge: UIRectEdge, color: UIColor, thickness: CGFloat) {

        var border = CALayer()

            border.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, CGRectGetHeight(self.frame), thickness)

            break
        case UIRectEdge.Left:
