If you are using .Net framework 4.5 then you can have a simple method to verify email address using EmailAddressAttribute Class in code.

private static bool IsValidEmailAddress(string emailAddress)
{
    return new System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations
                        .EmailAddressAttribute()
                        .IsValid(emailAddress);
}
