You must Implement the return type like this

 func max(inout a: [Int], b: Int)-> Int {

 var result = a[0]
 var i: Int

 for (i = 1; i <= b; i++) {
  if (a[i] > result) {
      result = a[i]
  }
 }
 return result
}
