I think your problem is here:

 InetAddress serverAddr = InetAddress.getByName(serverIpAddress);
 socket = new Socket(serverAddr, REDIRECTED_SERVERPORT);

I can't find where your serverIpAddress is assigned, thus you get NullPointerException.
