My friends and I were thinking of starting our own wiki. Given how widespread they have become recently, we heard it isn\'t that hard. We want to keep the site as simple as

MindTouch has a free, open source wiki (http://www.mindtouch.com/downloads) that sounds like it would be perfect for what you're trying to do. I've used it in the past and it's super easy to get up and running and very flexible.
