Android Studio keeps refusing to resolve com.android.support:appcompat-v7:29.0.1

I have already referred to this thread but it does not resolve my issue.

I keep getting the error: ERROR: Failed to resolve: com.android.support:appcompat-v7:2

I suggest you migrate to AndroidX

Go to Refactor > Migrate to AndroidX > Migrate

com.android.support:appcompat-v7:29.0.1 doesn't exist
