Yep, just use AR::Base#becomes.

Say your base class is Account, which is subclassed to GuestAccount and LoginAccount.

@account.is_a? LoginAccount? #=> true

Then you can just do a

form_for [@account.becomes(Account), @comment] do |f|
  ...
