PHP Curl Slowness

For some reason my curl call is very slow. Here is the code I used.

$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch,

CURL has some problems with DNS look-ups. Try using IP address instead of domain name.
